No Stranger to Goodbye's

This is a lot different than my other blog entries, but as it is a creative thought that i'm writing i figure it will fit, at least for now.

I looked around all the faces today,
of those that will soon be gone,
my college friends, once family
we're all moving on
some will stay
some will go
and almost all of us return
but in different times, in different places
and yet the time still turns

i know i'll recognize them, and talk about them now and then
but the strangest thing, is the tears unshed, that will never happen again
when i left high school i cried inside, mourned all the years
mourned what was and could have been
but now i feel no tears

For because I've made them so many times,
I'm no longer a Stranger to Goodbyes.

Holding out

In a parallel dimension, where metaphor is life
in the heat of battle, fights a fully-armored knight,
He is alone, completely surrounded by his foes,
every turn he's fighting, no matter where he goes
Battered and worn, he swings as hard as he can
he is getting weaker, its all he can do to stand.

There is a brief reprieve, they have retreated for the night,
Their damage done, the demons have taken flight
Exhuasted, the knight kneels down, glad this is over...for now

The Lone Wolf

Alone in a dreary wasteland
Alone in company
Alone with pack, and pair, and pal
Alone, but not lonely

From time to time he'll find others
Run with them 'til the time is dead
But always he returns at night
No pack with which to lay his head

Alone in a dreary wasteland
Alone in company
Alone with pack, and pair, and pal
Alone, but not lonely

With Brother Eagle and Father Sun
Flying high above his way
The Lone Wolf can always find
The strength to run another day

Alone in a dreary wasteland
Alone in company
Alone with pack, and pair, and pal
Alone, but not lonely

And he will keep on running alone
Every day and every night
passing pack after pack
and through every fight

Alone in a dreary wasteland
Alone in company
Alone with pack, and pair, and pal
Alone, but not lonely

There are some he runs with often
Who come to his joy and aid
Who have stood by him night and day
But their tracks will eventually fade

Alone in a dreary wasteland
Alone in company
Alone with pack, and pair, and pal
Alone, but not lonely

For two years he'll run with Brother Eagle
Two years of his constant stay
And when he returns he'll have been born anew
A Lone Wolf Stronger, come what may

Alone in a dreary wasteland
Alone in company
Alone with pack, and pair, and pal
Alone, but not lonely

After this great journey
After this two-year Run
He will find a She-Wolf just like he
With the guidance of Brother Eagle and Father Sun

With Her a pack will be born
With Her a pack will stay
Until they become Lone Wolfs themselves
And leave to find their way

Alone in a dreary wasteland
Alone in company
Alone with pack, and pair, and pal
Alone, but not lonely
